Two Up-Coming Events
I wanted to let you all know about two upcoming events that I will be at with my husband Glenn.
The Art of the Angler Show in Danbury Conn. will take place November 15 and 16 at the Danbury Plaza Hotel in Danbury, Conn. This is a great show where you can learn about bamboo rod building, fly fishing equipment care and fly tying at every level. Glenn and I will have our book, Ten Flies, Simple Ties, on sale as well.
The International Fly Tying Symposium is the following weekend, November 22 and 23 at the Doubletree Hotel in Somerset, NJ. This show is the place to be for all things fly tying! This show will take you from the basics of fly tying to the most advanced and artistic salmon flies. Our book will also be on sale at this show as well.
Now you might be asking why I am telling you about fly fishing events on a blog devoted to fiber arts? Well I will be demonstrating the FAMOUS crocheted rock worm. Yes, I tie a fly for fly fishing using crochet techniques! This is a very effective pattern for bouncing off the bottom of any stream as well as presenting it on a slow sink in stillwater.
Plus, it is a great shopping opportunity to pick up some great materials to add to your crochet, knitting or spinning. I regularly use my fly tying materials in my freeform projects!
If you have the time, please stop by and say hi. I guarantee you'll have a great time at these shows and they will really spark your creativity!
