A New and Special Book
A little over a year ago, a call for design submissions went out for a planned book project by DRG Publishing. The book was for crochet patterns with a focus on breast cancer support. I submitted a scarf pattern using Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends. This was my first submission ever, so I didn't get my hopes up. I wrote a letter explaining that I called it "Celia's Scarf" in honor of my mother-in-law who ended her battle with breast cancer in the early summer of 1992. Well, not only was it accepted for publication, my letter explaining why I designed this scarf was published as well! Words cannot express how honored I was to know that my first pattern ever accepted had such deep meaning.
I received my copy of the book over the weekend and DRG did a great job designing the book. As an added bonus, they are donating a portion of the profits to breast cancer research.
All the patterns in the book are just great and many have letters published about the creation process behind each piece as well as personal stories about themselves or a loved one's fight. It is a wonderfully heartfelt book and I am very proud to be a part of it.
